The Steve Bauer Trail links together wooded greenways, a former Niagara, St. Catharines & Toronto rail-line corridor, and parkland paths across suburban Fonthill. Along its route it connects several playgrounds, active parks with ball diamonds and soccer fields, the Pelham Arena, picnic areas and a boardwalk through a small wetland, making it as much a community recreation spine as a walking and cycling route. It honours Steve Bauer, who grew up in the area and became one of Canada's most celebrated road racers.
The trail is free and open to the public for walking, running and cycling. Because it is a branching network rather than a single line, there are multiple access points through Fonthill neighbourhoods; the Town of Pelham publishes a trail map to help visitors find entrances and connections. It is an easy, pleasant way to experience the town on foot or by bike rather than a wilderness hike.
