Point Abino is a wooded headland jutting into Lake Erie west of Crystal Beach, long home to an exclusive colony of summer estates first developed by wealthy American industrialists in the 1890s. It is best known for the Point Abino Lighthouse, a distinctive reinforced-concrete tower built in 1917-1918 and now designated a National Historic Site of Canada. The point remains a private, gated residential enclave, with public access to the lighthouse arranged by the town of Fort Erie only on limited occasions.
