Ridgeville is a small community set on the south-western ridge of the Fonthill Kame, bordering the western edge of Fonthill and taking its name from that elevated setting on the edge of the Short Hills. Originally called Steele's Corners after merchant Jonas Steele, it was renamed in 1865 when its post office opened and Steele became postmaster. Today it is recognized for a cluster of specialty shops along Canboro Road and its setting among berry farms and rolling countryside.
