The West Niagara Fair carries on the traditions of the historic Smithville and Beamsville fairs, which amalgamated in 2012, and is now staged at the West Niagara Fairgrounds on Mud Street West in Grassie. Over three days each September it draws families from across the west end of Niagara for a midway, agricultural displays, livestock competitions and a well-regarded heavy horse (draft) show.
Evening grandstand events such as the demolition derby anchor the entertainment, while indoor homecraft, baking, produce and craft competitions keep the fair's country-fair roots front and centre. It is one of the region's largest genuine agricultural society fairs.
