Fenwick is the second-largest community in Pelham, a rural village northeast of Welland that grew from an early-1800s farming settlement first known as Diffin's Corners. It took its present name in 1853, most likely honouring the Scottish birthplace of township reeve Dr. John Fraser, with a post office following in 1862. Ringed by orchards, vineyards and quiet country roads, it retains a relaxed small-town character anchored by long-running community traditions.
