Gasline is a small rural hamlet roughly six kilometres east of downtown Port Colborne, strung along Highway 3 in the former Humberstone Township. It owes its unusual name to an early natural-gas pipeline that crossed the area and was labelled on a 1918 map, a reminder of the Niagara region's turn-of-the-century gas boom, when the nearby Bertie-Humberstone field piped gas as far as Buffalo. Today it remains a quiet farming and residential community that has kept its distinctive name and identity.
