Port Colborne is a city on the north shore of Lake Erie at the southern entrance of the Welland Canal. It is home to Lock 8, among the longest canal locks in the world, and promotes itself as a gateway for ships entering the canal from the lake. The city hosts the popular Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival each August long weekend.
