DeCew Falls is a historic settlement along the Niagara Escarpment in western Thorold, named for the waterfalls on Beaverdams Creek and the pioneering DeCew (DeCou) family. It is best known as the site of the DeCew House, Lieutenant FitzGibbon's War of 1812 headquarters and the destination of Laura Secord's 1813 warning, and as home to the restored Morningstar Mill, a working 19th-century water-powered grist mill open to visitors. The falls, mill and escarpment trails make it one of Thorold's most-visited heritage and nature destinations, straddling the boundary with St. Catharines.
