Set on Wainfleet's Lake Erie coastline, Long Beach Conservation Area is one of the Niagara region's best-known freshwater beach destinations. Its long, sandy shoreline slopes gently into some of the warmest, shallowest water on the Great Lakes, making it a favourite for families who come to swim, sunbathe, fish, and try wind- and paddle-sports. Behind the beach, a wooded conservation property holds a large campground with hundreds of sites, plus day-use amenities and trails where visitors can spot migrating birds and butterflies.
The area is managed as a seasonal operation, with day use and camping running from roughly late spring through the autumn. A day-use vehicle fee applies, and reservations are typical for the busy summer season. Beyond the sand, the surrounding countryside and shoreline forest give hikers and nature-watchers a quieter counterpoint to the beach itself, rounding out a spot that works equally well for an afternoon swim or a multi-day camping getaway.
