The Head of the Welland – Five Bridges Fall Classic is one of Ontario's marquee autumn rowing regattas, hosted by the South Niagara Rowing Club on the Welland Recreational Canal at the Welland International Flatwater Centre. Crews launch in a rolling time-trial start and race roughly 5.3 kilometres through the heart of Welland, passing beneath the five bridges that give the event its name. The regatta draws around a thousand high-school, university, club and masters athletes from across the province and neighbouring states, lining the canal banks with rowers and spectators over a single busy Saturday.
