The Welland Hope Floats Challenge is an annual dragon boat competition held on the purpose-built regatta course at the Welland International Flatwater Centre. Now in its fourth year, it gathers community, competitive, and breast-cancer-survivor crews for a day of 500-metre heats, 200-metre finals, and longer 2,000-metre races, with medals for the fastest boats.
Proceeds support the South Niagara Canoe Club and the Hope Floats breast cancer survivor dragon boat program. Teams enter by division, and the day doubles as a lively waterside spectator event on Welland's recreational canal.
