St. Davids sits sheltered at the base of the Niagara Escarpment in the southwest of the municipality, at what was historically the meeting point of two Indigenous trails. The village grew on land granted to Butler's Rangers officer Major David Secord, for whom it is named, and was burned by American forces in 1814. Today it is a wine-country community ringed by vineyards, estate wineries and tender-fruit orchards, offering a quieter alternative to the busy Old Town.
