This full-day loop pairs green space and easy strolling with the region's defining engineering story, the ladder of locks that let ships climb the Niagara Escarpment between two Great Lakes.
Start slow among garden beds and bandshells, wander north to the lake, then follow the canal south to watch enormous vessels rise and fall right before your eyes. Wind down back downtown, where a modern arts centre keeps the city's cultural life humming after dark.
