Lakeside Park Carousel

Tucked into Lakeside Park along the Port Dalhousie waterfront, this antique carousel is a genuine piece of amusement-park history, built by celebrated carver Charles I.D. Looff around the turn of the twentieth century. Riders can climb aboard any of 68 intricately carved horses, lions, camels and other creatures while an antique band organ plays. Thanks to a condition attached when the carousel was given to the city, a ride still costs just five cents, making it a beloved multi-generational tradition. It runs seasonally in the warmer months and pairs perfectly with a stroll around the historic harbour and nearby beach.
