Carrying traffic across the mouth of the Niagara River where it meets Lake Erie, the Peace Bridge is one of the busiest crossings on the Canada-US border and a defining feature of Fort Erie's waterfront. Its five graceful arched spans have anchored the skyline since 1927, and the name commemorates the long-standing peace between the two nations. The crossing is owned and run by the bi-national Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority.
While it remains a working commercial and passenger border crossing rather than a walk-through attraction, the bridge is a memorable sight for first-time visitors, best appreciated from the parks and promenades along the Fort Erie side of the river, where its arches frame views of the water and the Buffalo skyline beyond.
