White Water Walk

A short distance downstream from the falls, White Water Walk drops visitors by elevator roughly 70 metres to the floor of the Niagara Gorge, where a boardwalk traces the edge of the river's Class 5 to 6 rapids. Here the entire volume of the Niagara River is funnelled through a narrow channel, producing standing waves and a relentless surge of aerated water just beyond the railing. Operated by the Niagara Parks Commission during the warmer season, the self-guided walk offers a close, ground-level look at the raw force of the river that most viewpoints above the gorge cannot match.
