Two free shows anchor every Niagara Falls evening in 2026: the falls illumination, which runs every single night of the year from dusk, and the Niagara Falls Fireworks Series, firing nightly at 10 p.m. through October 12. Around those, the calendar stacks up festivals from wine harvest to three million winter lights. The falls are lit in colour from dusk until at least 1 a.m., 365 nights a year. Start times shift with the sunset through 2026:

Niagara Falls Fireworks Series — nightly to October 12
Five-minute shows launch from within the gorge every night at 10 p.m. from May 15 through October 12, 2026, weather permitting, with extended displays on July 1 (Canada Day) and July 4 (Independence Day). July – August 2026: peak season
- Fireworks + illumination nightly (above) — the summer baseline.
- Canada Day (July 1) and Independence Day (July 4) — extended fireworks, concerts and family programming on both sides of the river; the parks are at their fullest. (Both have passed for 2026 — they repeat every year.)
- Outdoor concerts and busker performances pop up through summer in Queen Victoria Park and on Clifton Hill — check the Niagara Parks and Niagara Falls Tourism event pages for specific 2026 dates.
- Peach season at the markets — late July into August is Niagara’s tender-fruit harvest; farm stands line the parkway toward Niagara-on-the-Lake, and the local farmers markets are at their best.
September – October 2026: harvest season
- Niagara Grape & Wine Festival — the region’s signature festival, held in mid-to-late September 2026 at Montebello Park in nearby St. Catharines: tastings from dozens of Niagara wineries, live music, food vendors and the Grande Parade. - Fall colour along the gorge — typically peaks mid-October; the parkway and Niagara Glen turn amber and red right as the fireworks season wraps (October 12).
- Thanksgiving weekend (Canada, October 10–12, 2026) — the last big crowd surge of the season, coinciding with the final fireworks nights.
November 2026 – January 2027: the lights season
- Winter Festival of Lights — November 14, 2026 to January 10, 2027. Ontario’s biggest free outdoor light festival: about three million lights and dozens of illuminated displays along the Niagara Parkway, Dufferin Islands and Queen Victoria Park. Walk it or drive it; donations welcome. With the illumination starting at 4:30 p.m. in these months, you get a full evening of light before dinner.
- New Year’s Eve at Queen Victoria Park — the annual outdoor NYE celebration traditionally brings live music and midnight fireworks over the falls; 2026–27 programming details are typically announced in late fall on the Niagara Parks and Niagara Falls Tourism sites.

Already passed in 2026 but reliable fixtures if you’re planning ahead:
- Niagara Icewine Festival (January). In 2026 it ran over two weekends in mid-to-late January, with the free-admission Icewine Village on Queen Street in Niagara-on-the-Lake — ice sculptures, icewine cocktails and winery events across the region. - Spring blossom season (May). Orchard bloom along the parkway and the free Centennial Lilac Garden — a quietly spectacular couple of weeks, usually early-to-mid May.
