On the American side, Top of the Falls sits inside Niagara Falls State Park from May to September, and The Red Coach Inn serves a rapids view year round. If the view matters less than the food, the better value is off the tourist strips entirely – Queen Street in Ontario, Third Street in New York.

Two cities, one name: work out which side you are eating on
There are two cities called Niagara Falls: one in Ontario, Canada, and one in New York, USA. They face each other across the river. Restaurant names, and even restaurant chains, repeat across both – there is a Rainforest Cafe on each side, roughly two kilometres apart with an international border in between. A reservation made from a search result that never named a country is a reservation you may not be able to reach.
The practical differences: the Ontario side looks straight at the Horseshoe Falls, which is why the high-rise view restaurants cluster there. The New York side puts you inside the state park and next to the water rather than across from it. Moving between them is a formal border crossing – bring your travel documents and allow queueing time, and do not plan a 7pm table on the far side of a 6pm crossing.
Falls-view dining on the Ontario side
Skylon Tower Revolving Dining Room (Ontario, Canada)
5200 Robinson Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario. The dining room sits 775 feet up in the Skylon Tower and completes one full 360-degree rotation every hour, so every table eventually gets the falls. The detail that changes the maths: a dining reservation includes complimentary access to the Ride-to-the-Top elevator and both the indoor and outdoor observation decks, which are otherwise paid admission. Early dinner seatings at 4:30pm and 5:00pm are priced lower than prime time, which is the cheapest legitimate route into a fallsview meal here.
Table Rock House Restaurant (Ontario, Canada)
6650 Niagara Parkway, Niagara Falls, Ontario. This is the closest restaurant to the brink of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls – close enough that the floor-to-ceiling windows frame the falls themselves rather than a distant panorama, and close enough to eat through the nightly illumination. It is operated by Niagara Parks, an agency of the Government of Ontario, rather than a hotel group, and it is Feast On certified for Ontario sourcing. If you only book one view table on the Canadian side and you want proximity over altitude, this is the one.
Queen Victoria Place Restaurant (Ontario, Canada)
6345 Niagara Parkway, Niagara Falls, Ontario, in Queen Victoria Park. Also run by Niagara Parks, and housed in a 1904 building with a green copper roof and walls built from boulder stones taken out of the riverbed just south of the Horseshoe Falls. Feast On certified with a Niagara VQA wine list, and there is on-site parking, which is not a given along the Parkway. Important: it is seasonal, open April to October only, so it is not an answer for a winter trip.
Falls and river views on the New York side
Top of the Falls Restaurant (New York, USA)
30 Goat Island Loop Road, Niagara Falls, New York. This is the only restaurant physically inside Niagara Falls State Park, on Goat Island overlooking Terrapin Point, with floor-to-ceiling windows onto the Horseshoe Falls and outdoor dining decks. The official destination marketing organisation lists it as ADA compliant and group friendly. The catch is a hard one: it opens May through September only, so for most of the off-season the American side has no in-park dining option at all.
The Red Coach Inn Restaurant (New York, USA)
2 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, New York, operating since 1923. Be clear about what the view is: the Rapids Room is an enclosed porch with leaded-glass windows over the Upper Niagara Rapids just above the American and Bridal Veil Falls – the whitewater, not the falls face. That is the honest version of a view meal on the US side, and it is the year-round one. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the year except Christmas, breakfast from 7:30am, and it is open to the general public rather than hotel guests only. Garden and koi-pond patio in warmer months.
Clifton Hill and family dining, Ontario
Clifton Hill is the Canadian side’s attractions strip. It is loud, it is aimed squarely at visitors, and with children in tow that is often exactly what you want.
Rainforest Cafe, Clifton Hill (Ontario, Canada)
4915 Clifton Hill, Niagara Falls, Ontario – this is the Canadian branch, and the only Rainforest Cafe location in Canada. It sits in the 20-acre Falls Avenue Resort at the corner of Falls Avenue and Clifton Hill, connected indoors to the resort hotels, which is genuinely useful in bad weather. The indoor simulated thunderstorm, with lightning and a wall of rain, runs every 30 minutes, and there are animatronic jungle animals throughout. It opens 9:00am on Sundays but 11:00am Monday to Saturday, so it is not a weekday breakfast option.
Niagara Brewing Company (Ontario, Canada)
4915-A Clifton Hill, Niagara Falls, Ontario. A brewery that brews its own beer on site, in the middle of the tourist core, and one of the latest-serving kitchens on the strip: open 10:30am to midnight Sunday to Thursday and to 1:00am Friday and Saturday. Set expectations correctly – this is a bar menu rather than full-scale dining, so treat it as the late stop rather than the dinner reservation. There is a second taproom inside Fallsview Casino Resort.
Downtown Niagara Falls, New York: Third Street and Old Falls Street
The walkable restaurant district on the American side runs along Third Street and Old Falls Street, a short walk from the state park entrance. It is the part of Niagara Falls, New York that most visitors never find.
Savor (New York, USA)
28 Old Falls Street, Niagara Falls, New York. The teaching restaurant on the ground floor of the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute, part of SUNY Niagara – student-staffed, open to the public, and served on a prix fixe menu, with an open kitchen and a wood-stone hearth oven. The one thing to check before you go: it runs on the college calendar, so its opening days are limited and it closes entirely for academic breaks. Confirm the schedule for your dates before you build an evening around it.
Wine on Third (New York, USA)
501 Third Street, Niagara Falls, New York, and the anchor of the Third Street strip. The kitchen runs tapas-style small plates alongside wood-fired pizza, house-made pasta, seafood and steak, with a curated wine list and craft cocktails. It is an evening venue only – doors at 3:00pm daily, closing 9:00pm Sunday to Thursday and 10:00pm Friday and Saturday – so do not route a lunch here. It takes reservations on (716) 589-9463, which is worth using on a summer weekend.
Steelbound Brewery & Distillery (New York, USA)
300 Third Street, Niagara Falls, New York, in the former TGI Friday’s space. Its real value is the clock: breakfast runs daily from 7:00am to 11:00am, making it one of very few early-morning options within walking distance of Niagara Falls State Park, in a city where most falls-adjacent kitchens open late morning. Lunch and dinner run from noon to 10:00pm, the bar stays open to 11:00pm on Friday and Saturday, and happy hour is Monday to Friday, 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
Rainforest Cafe, Third Street (New York, USA)
300 Third Street, Niagara Falls, New York – this is the American branch, inside the Sheraton Niagara Falls, next to Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino and a short walk from the state park. Same chain format as the Ontario location: animatronic animals, tropical thunderstorms. The point of naming both is simple – if you are staying on the US side and the children want the rainforest, you do not need to cross the border for it. Open daily 11:00am to 10:00pm.
Off the tourist strips in Niagara Falls, Ontario
Taps Brewhouse (Ontario, Canada)
4680 Queen Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario – the historic downtown, not Clifton Hill, which is the whole point of it. It brews small-batch beer on site and covers the hours the tourist core does not: weekend brunch Saturday and Sunday 11:00am to 3:00pm, and open until 1:00am Friday and Saturday and midnight on Sunday, with kitchen close times varying by night. The menu runs to pizzas, poutines, tacos and burgers, with a marked vegan section. One caveat the brewery states itself: because it is a brewery, everything may have been in contact with gluten.
AG Inspired Cuisine (Ontario, Canada)
5195 Magdalen Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario. Farm-to-table fine dining inside the Sterling Inn & Spa, a small boutique hotel off the main strips, with a menu that rotates by season rather than sitting still. This is the Canadian side’s answer for an anniversary or a quiet dinner that is not a view room. It is dinner only, from 5:30pm, and closed Mondays. Reservations are strongly recommended through OpenTable or on 289-292-0005; walk-ins are taken only if a table happens to be free.
Flying Saucer Restaurant (Ontario, Canada)
6768 Lundy’s Lane, Niagara Falls, Ontario. A diner in a flying-saucer building on Lundy’s Lane, well away from the Fallsview and Clifton Hill zones, and the clearest cheap-eats answer on the Canadian side. It is open 7:00am to 10:00pm every single day, which means it covers breakfast right through to a late dinner in one place – unusual here. It runs an Early Bird Breakfast Special and positions itself on low prices rather than fine dining, with a menu spanning breakfast, wings and dinner platters.
Neighbourhood restaurants on the New York side
Fortuna’s Restaurant & Banquets (New York, USA)
827 19th Street, Niagara Falls, New York, well away from the tourist core. Family-owned and trading since 1945, now run by the third generation of the Fortuna family – the longevity is the credential. The menu is southern Italian, built on handmade gnocchi and ravioli, with steaks, veal, poultry and seafood alongside. Two things to plan around: it is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and the on-site banquet facilities seat up to about 80, so it is a genuine option for a large group. Call (716) 282-2252 for parties.
The Griffon Gastropub, Lewiston (New York, USA)
115 South Water Street, Lewiston, New York, a short drive north of Niagara Falls along the river. There is a large riverfront patio overlooking the Niagara River plus indoor dining and lounge seating, an extensive tap list and live music. Read the hours carefully, because they split: the bar runs to 2:00am Sunday to Thursday and 3:00am Friday and Saturday, but the kitchen closes at 9:00pm, or 10:00pm on Friday and Saturday. It is a late-drinks venue, not a late-food one.

- Book the view rooms ahead, and book the table, not just the restaurant. The Fallsview and Clifton Hill areas are built for visitors and fill in peak season. If the view is the point, request a window table specifically rather than assuming, and consider an early or late seating – at the Skylon Tower the 4:30pm and 5:00pm seatings are priced below prime time.
- Check seasonality before you commit. Queen Victoria Place is open April to October, and Top of the Falls May to September. Both drop out of an autumn or winter trip entirely.
- Breakfast is scarcer than dinner. The verified early starts are Steelbound from 7:00am and The Red Coach Inn from 7:30am on the New York side, and the Flying Saucer from 7:00am in Ontario. Taps Brewhouse covers weekend brunch, 11:00am to 3:00pm.
- Late night is mostly bars. Niagara Brewing Company runs to midnight or 1:00am on Clifton Hill and Taps Brewhouse to 1:00am on Queen Street. On the US side the Griffon’s bar goes to 2:00am or 3:00am, but its kitchen shuts at 9:00pm or 10:00pm.
- Some kitchens do not do lunch at all. Wine on Third opens at 3:00pm and AG Inspired Cuisine at 5:30pm. Closed days matter too: Fortuna’s is shut Mondays and Tuesdays, AG on Mondays, and Savor follows the college term.
- Treat a border crossing as part of the reservation. If your table is in the other country, add the crossing to your travel time and carry your documents.
