Mel Swart-Lake Gibson Conservation Park

Named for a longtime local conservationist, Mel Swart-Lake Gibson Conservation Park sits where Beaverdams and DeCew Roads meet, on the shore of the reservoir known as Lake Gibson. A boardwalk extends out over the water for close-up views of marsh and shoreline, while the surrounding grounds have been deliberately allowed to return to a natural state, drawing back native birds, turtles, and other wildlife.

It is a calm spot for a short walk, wildlife watching, or shoreline fishing, and now also hosts a community Indigenous Unity Garden created as a gathering and outdoor-learning space.
