The Whirlpool Aero Car is a piece of living history, a Spanish-designed cable car that has ferried passengers across the Niagara Gorge for more than a century. Suspended from steel cables well above the river, the open-sided gondola crosses over the Whirlpool, a dramatic basin where the current reverses and churns against the whitewater rapids below.
The round trip is short but scenic, delivering some of the best vantage points on the turbulent river without the spray of the falls. Because riders stand for the crossing and must step up into the car, it suits mobile visitors more than those needing step-free access.
Tickets and seasonal operation
Published tickets are CAD $25 adult and $16.50 child 3–12; ages 2 and under are free. The attraction operates seasonally, so check the actual date and weather notice. The last car departs 20 minutes before closing; leave time for arrival and queues.
Access and nearby stops
The Aero Car is not wheelchair accessible and strollers are not permitted. Parking is available on site. The ride returns to its Canadian boarding point and is not a border-crossing service. White Water Walk and the Niagara Glen are other options along this downstream stretch of the parkway; check their access and conditions separately.
